This themed collection aims to showcase the latest advances and emerging directions in electro-organic synthesis, a rapidly evolving field that harnesses electric current to drive selective organic transformations. We welcome contributions that demonstrate novel electrochemical strategies and the integration of electrochemistry with other catalytic or synthetic platforms. Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Development of new electrochemically mediated bond-forming and bond-cleaving reactions;
  • Electrochemical asymmetric synthesis and enantioselective transformations;
  • Design of redox mediators, electrocatalysts (metal-based, organocatalytic, or photocoupled), and stable electrode materials;
  • Mechanistic studies using in situ/operando techniques, computational chemistry, or kinetic analysis to elucidate electron-transfer pathways;
  • Flow electrochemistry and scalable continuous-flow electrosynthesis;
  • Integration of electro-organic methods with photochemistry, biocatalysis, or heterogeneous catalysis.

How to submit

Both research and review articles will be considered for this special issue. Submissions to the journal should fit within the scope of Organic Chemistry Frontiers. Please see the journal’s webpage for more information on the journal’s scope, standards, article types and author guidelines. All manuscripts will undergo the standard initial assessment and peer review processes. Accepted manuscripts will appear online as soon as they are published and be added to the special collection webpage. Please note that peer review or acceptance are not guaranteed.

If you are interested in submitting a review-type article to this special issue, please contact the editorial office in advance with a brief proposal. When submitting please specify that your paper is intended for the special issue of Electro-Organic Synthesis in the “Themed issue” section.
