The RSC Biotechnology group is pleased to announce the Biotechnology for Sustainability meeting. This one-day conference aims to bring together scientists, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders in the growing field of sustainable biotechnologies. Topics will range from fundamental research through commercialisation in biotech fields including synthetic biology, chemical synthesis, and agricultural biomass conversion. Meeting aims:
- Connect with researchers, innovators, and stakeholders across industry and academia in the growing field of sustainable biotechnologies.
- Provide a forum to share practical insights and lessons learned in moving from early discovery to real-world deployment.
- Showcase diverse career paths to early career researchers in biotechnology research.
This meeting is formatted into three different sections based on the journey of a biotechnology: discovery, development, and deployment. Each section will include short talks by speakers, followed by a panel discussion to provide insight into the unique challenges and opportunities that biotechnologies face, from the idea/proof-of-concept phase through to a fully industrialized process.
There will be a poster-pitch session, which will be an opportunity to "pitch" your biotechnology, research, or idea to industrial and academic experts in a safe and supportive environment! A prize will be awarded for the best pitch. In particular, we encourage students and early career researchers to attend the event and submit an abstract for the poster-pitch session. We recommend use of a poster or similar printed visual aid, but this is not required. Each accepted entry will be given a poster stand area where the presenter can optionally display their visual aid. Note: we cannot provide tables or electrical access to pitch presenters, so please plan your presentation accordingly.
