BioCatUK 2027 - 2nd UK Meeting in Biocatalysis

This is the second in the series of hugely popular BioCatUK which brings the UK biocatalysis community together to showcase research across the field, discuss future opportunities, and foster networking for early-career researchers and established scientists alike. This meeting will be hosted at Durham University on 21st - 22nd April 2027.

The event will cover a broad range of biocatalysis topics, including but not limited to:

  • Synthesis of bulk chemicals and high-value molecules (drugs, carbohydrates, etc.)
  • Biocatalytic cascades (biocatalytic, chemo-enzymatic, photo-enzymatic)
  • Whole-cell biocatalysis and pathway engineering
  • Flow biocatalysis
  • Degradation of plastics and other pollutants
  • Structural and mechanistic studies
  • Protein design and dynamics
  • Computational biocatalysis

Venue: Teaching and Learning Centre, Durham University, South Rd, Durham DH1 3LS, UK.

Call for Abstracts: Submissions will open for oral and poster presentations soon. There will also be selected flash presentations selected by the organising committee from the poster abstracts which are received.

Oral Communications: Group Leaders or postdoctoral researchers from academia or industry (approx. 20 minutes)

Poster Presentations: Open to all participants (a limited number will be offered a flash speaking slot)

The meeting will feature plenary speakers, alongside supporting oral presentations. Our goal is to provide as many researchers as possible with the opportunity to present their work, reflecting our core mission of sharing research across the community.
