1st Anglo-Italian Nucleic Acids Symposium

We are delighted to announce the 1st Anglo-Italian Nucleic Acids Symposium, which will be held in Gizzeria Lido, Catanzaro, Italy on 7-10th October 2026. This meeting is being organised by Dr. Marco Di Antonio (Imperial) and Stefano Alcaro (Catanzaro).

This symposium will offer opportunities to students, post-docs and established academics working on nucleic acids research (in its broadest possible sense) to present their work in the form of oral presentations and posters. This meeting is intended to foster networking and collaborations between the UK and the Italian nucleic acids and chemical biology communities. Therefore, oral contributions will be equally split between UK and Italian representatives to ensure fair representations of the research led by the two communities.

The symposium will also feature 3 outstanding plenary speakers:

Cindy Burrows (University of Utah), as the RSC Nucleic Acids Group Lilley Prize Lectureship awardee

Zoë Waller (UCL), as invited plenary speaker from the UK

Fabiana Quaglia (University of Naples Federico II), as invited plenary speaker from Italy

Contribution is welcome from all areas of nucleic acids researcher. We aim to cover the broadest possible range of nucleic acids research including, but not limited to, synthesis of nucleic acids and analogues, genomics, bioinformatics, computational studies and AI, structural biology and biophysics. This symposium is mainly aimed at UK and Italian based researchers, but we welcome other international attendees.

We will offer up to 5 travel bursaries for students to attend, please submit your application form  that you will find in the dedicated link to [email protected] by the 15th September to be considered for one.
